An evening on the water and a celebration of lasting impact.

During the CAMP Technical Meeting, Clarkson faculty, students, and alumni gather with industry partners to connect, exchange ideas and strengthen the collaborations that drive innovation in advanced materials processing. Monday night’s dinner boat cruise on the St. Lawrence River capped a day full of engaging technical presentations.

A special highlight of the week has been the recognition of Professor Emeritus Dick Partch, who is being honored for an incredible 60 years of service to Clarkson University. Throughout the conference, speakers have reflected on Dr. Partch’s contributions to research, education and mentorship, underscoring the profound influence he has had on generations of students, faculty and professionals.

Events like the CAMP Annual Technical Meeting showcase the power of bringing together Clarkson’s scientific and engineering experts with partners from industry to tackle complex challenges, share knowledge and inspire the next generation of innovators.

Hailey Morrissey, Chemistry & Biochemistry, is headed to Yale University to pursue a PhD in Chemistry. “Clarkson’s resources helped me discover what I wanted to do after graduation. Research played a huge role in showing me that grad school was the right path, and I’m excited to keep learning and refining my skills. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to pursue this without the support of Clarkson’s faculty.”

Kirby Davidson, Chemistry & Biochemistry, will join Lockheed Martin as a Materials & Process Engineer. “Clarkson prepared me for what’s next through research opportunities and rigorous coursework. I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned in my career.”

Elena Goldman, Computer Science, will pursue a master’s degree in Earth and Space Science & Engineering at York University. “Working on interdisciplinary projects at Clarkson inspired me to pursue my interests and branch out into Space Engineering!”

Essence Raymo, Computer Science, is pursuing a role with GE Vernova through its Digital Technology Development Program. “I’m excited to explore different areas of technology over the next two years while continuing to discover my passion. I’m grateful to Clarkson’s Computer
Science program for providing such a strong foundation.”

Bailey Peck, Healthcare, will continue at Clarkson University in the direct-entry Occupational Therapy program.“Clarkson taught me the value of understanding, adaptability, and evidence-based learning. I’m ready to apply these skills to graduate school and advocate for my future clients.”

🌱 Clarkson University Strengthening Regional Food Waste Solutions

Clarkson University is partnering with the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) to expand efforts that reduce food waste and build more sustainable communities across the North Country.

Through this collaboration, Clarkson faculty, students and regional partners are working to increase composting awareness, support local food systems and turn waste into valuable resources. With support from a USDA Rural Business Development Grant, the initiative will train community members and launch outreach efforts that help divert food waste from landfills.

Why it matters: up to 30–40% of food in the U.S. is wasted, much of it ending up in landfills where it contributes to environmental challenges. Efforts like this create opportunities to reduce that impact while strengthening local economies and soil health.

This partnership is a powerful example of how Clarkson research, education and community engagement come together to drive real, regional impact.

🧠 Building the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders

Clarkson University’s BRAIN-STEM program is opening doors for local high school students to explore careers in healthcare through hands-on research and clinical experiences.

This spring, more than 50 students from across the North Country came to campus to develop neuroscience research proposals, explore topics like addiction science and present their work during a Clinical Simulation Experience Showcase. From forming research questions to presenting findings, students gained a full view of the scientific process while building confidence and critical thinking skills.

With mentorship from Clarkson faculty and students, participants connected classroom learning to real-world healthcare challenges and future career paths.

Programs like BRAIN-STEM highlight Clarkson’s commitment to early STEM engagement, experiential learning and community impact.

👏 Inspiring to see these students take their first steps as emerging researchers.
