For this week’s Why Clarkson Wednesday we talked to some Ignite students about what drew them to Clarkson.
Daniel Greco - Mechanical Engineering
“I chose Clarkson because it is the only university that gave me a chance. In highschool I never thought I would be able to afford college, but after visiting Clarkson I was able to meet with staff and alumni, and they worked with me on scholarships to be the second person in my family to earn a college education. I also chose Clarkson for the students’ real world experience. The SPEED program gives students a grasp on engineering design and manufacturing, which gave me a huge leg up in getting started early in my career.”
Elizabeth Kraynack - Electrical Engineering
“When looking at schools to transfer to, Clarkson stood out to me because of its job placement, campus opportunities, and small class size. I loved that the majority of my peers were taking similar courses to me making it easy to collaborate on homework and projects and be able to seek advice from upperclassmen. In the small classes everyone knows everyone, and the surplus of opportunities allows for you to never feel like you are in competition with your classmates.”
Daniel Galko - Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
“There were many reasons I wanted to pursue my Bachelors degree at Clarkson, such as cost of attendance, location, representation of degree programs, and access to resources. Clarkson provided an affordable offer and I knew that I wanted to attend a university that was far away from my home in Texas. Clarkson’s remoteness with splendid weather and frequent snowfall perfectly fit the bill. Finally, Clarkson provides great opportunities through the Ignite Makerspace, and SPEED Teams.”
