As we conclude our 35th Anniversary celebration events, we want to sincerely thank everyone who joined us throughout this year across New Jersey, New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and the Bay Area.

These gatherings reflected the strength, generosity, and spirit of the Princeton AlumniCorps community, and we are incredibly grateful to the alumni, Fellows, Emerging Leaders, donors, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who made them possible.

Special thanks to the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs DC Center and Willis Tower for hosting our recent anniversary celebrations in Washington, DC and Chicago. We are also deeply appreciative of our anniversary committee members, staff, and all those who contributed their time, energy, and support behind the scenes.

From celebrating our founding vision to recognizing the next generation of civic leaders, our 35th anniversary reminded us of the enduring impact of community rooted in service and public leadership.

We invite you to explore photo galleries from each event and relive these special moments with us. https://linktr.ee/princetonalumnicorps

Some volunteers never really leave, they grow with the mission đź’›

We’re proud to recognize Elizabeth Perriello Rice ’90, a Project 55 alum, current board member, and leader of our 35th Anniversary efforts.

“Princeton AlumniCorps, and in particular the Project 55 fellowship, was central to my development as a young professional, not only through the deep community experience at my placement, but also through the network of alumni who mentored me and provided guidance and support. I am inspired to give back to continue supporting the mission and the next generation of young people working on social change.

It has been a particular honor to chair the 35th Anniversary year of the organization, reconnecting with volunteers across more than three decades while celebrating in five regions. Volunteering is also a way to build community with alumni committed to the common good while honoring our founders and supporting our work today.”

Thank you, Elizabeth, for your lasting commitment and leadership.

We’re recognizing Tim Schmidt, Director of Programs and Strategy at Princeton AlumniCorps, for his volunteer service with Princeton Community Works.

“It was a privilege to serve as a volunteer member of the conference planning committee for Princeton Community Works this year. Their annual conference is a meaningful gathering that connects local nonprofit leaders and provides valuable opportunities for leadership development, work that truly strengthens our community. I am grateful for the relationships I formed and the small part I played in continuing this meaningful convening for another year.”

Thank you, Tim, for helping build connections that make communities stronger!

This National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to spotlight, 2025-2026 Project 55 Fellow Sabien Taylor ’25 💛

Through his Project 55 fellowship with the Association to Benefit Children, Sabien played a key role in leading Turkey Day, an annual initiative providing meals and support to families in need.

“A highlight of my first year at the Association of Benefit Children was leading operations for our annual charity drive, Turkey Day. We distributed 1,000 free turkeys to families while collecting valuable feedback to strengthen services. It was a day full of gratitude, connecting with community members, volunteers, and long term stakeholders.

This Turkey Day was especially meaningful during a time of peak food insecurity. Events like these are made possible by persistent effort and a powerful web of care. It was an honor to serve as one of those connective forces.”

Thank you, Sabien, for your leadership and commitment to community.

“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.” — Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Female civic leaders continue to shape movements, expand access, and challenge systems to create a more just world.

We're inspired by leaders like Ruha Benjamin, Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University; Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court; Michelle Obama ’85, former First Lady of the United States; and Malala Yousafzai, activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Their work reflects the power of civic leadership to drive equity, expand opportunity, and create lasting change. At AlumniCorps, we are proud to support and celebrate women who are doing exactly that in communities across the country.

We continue to honor the civic leadership of our fellows, including Venezia '25, a 2025-2026 Project 55 Fellow who is dedicated to advancing health equity for women like herself.

"By helping expand access to trial knowledge and resources, I felt I was contributing to a more just research landscape where patients are empowered to make informed decisions about their care."

Through her work expanding culturally responsive, Spanish-language clinical trial resources for Latina patients, Venezia is helping close critical gaps in care at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCSF Breast Care Center).

We set a spring goal of $159K to sustain and expand this work. Thanks to supporters like you, we’ve already raised over $100K. If you feel inspired to give, you can help us reach the finish line by March 31: https://www.alumnicorps.org/donate

What does civic learning really mean?

At Princeton AlumniCorps, civic learning is central to our mission. Through fellowships and partnerships with community organizations, we support leaders working on issues that strengthen communities and expand opportunity.

Civic learning helps people understand how communities function and how individuals can participate in shaping the systems that affect everyday life.

But civic engagement can take many forms.

Volunteering.
Advocacy.
Community leadership.
Staying informed and participating in dialogue.

How do you practice civic learning or civic engagement in your own community?

Share in the comments. We would love to hear from you.
