This Tuesday, 9/9, Professor Shamus Khan will join Kānaka Maoli composer Leilehua Lanzilotti and prize-winning journalist Vinson Cunningham in New York for a conversation moderated by ethnomusicology professor Fredara Mareva Hadley from The Juilliard School in their discussion series, "Variations on America".

This discussion is titled, "Home: Belonging, from New England to Hawaii" and kicks off Gustavo Dudamel’s inaugural season and first concert as Musical Director at the Philharmonic.

The Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies is delighted to share two new books from some of our distinguished faculty.

Rhacel Salazar Parreñas has authored a new book "The Trafficker Next Door", releasing on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Brian Eugenio Herrera co-edited an anthology, "María Irene Fornés In Context", which released on Thursday, August 7th.

In collaboration with the Department of Religion and the Department of African American Studies, the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies is delighted to announce an upcoming speaker series, “The Promise and Peril of American Evangelicalism”.

The speaker series accompanies and is a part of Professor Wallace Best’s Fall 2025 course, “Modern Evangelicalism in the United States” which traces the historical development of this religious tradition and the profound impact it has on all aspects of American society. The series features three distinguished guest speakers who are leaders in the field of American religious studies.

The Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies celebrated the accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate degree candidates during Class Day on May 26th.

Students, families, friends, faculty, and staff filled the Corwin Hall Atrium and were treated to a delicious reception, warm smiles, and farewell wishes.

Associate Professor of Theatre and Gender and Sexuality Studies Brian Herrera and Associate Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs Elizabeth Armstrong presented the Suzanne M. Huffman prize.

The Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies is pleased to announce that the program has been awarded two Stanley Kelley Jr. Visiting Professorships for Distinguished Teaching for the 2025/26 academic year.

Danielle Lindemann, who taught two courses this Spring, will continue for all next year as a Kelley Visiting Professor.

Nadera Shaloub-Kevorkian, will also be joining us in this role, teaching three classes over the course of the year.

Fawzia Afzal-Khan will also continue in her role as visiting faculty teaching three courses next year. She has taught two courses this Spring and brought a wide range of successful programming to Princeton.

All three are full professors at their respective institutions. The program is delighted to be have three exceptional teachers and internationally renowned scholars joining us for 2025/26.

Together they will teach nine undergraduate courses in GSS for 2025/26. The program is most thankful for the Office of the Dean of the Faculty and the Office of the President for their exemplary support.
