SNHS Ambassadors serve as student representatives of the school, connecting with prospective students and families and supporting events and programs throughout the year.

Almost three years ago to the day, you did the coolest thing: you decided to be first.

Since then, you’ve learned, you’ve grown, you’ve led, and you’ve probably consumed about 100 smoothies along the way.

Today, you walk the halls of Mondor as seniors, ready to soak up every last minute of Friartown.

Not everyone is cut out to be a trailblazer. But you and your families took a leap of faith and trusted us to build something special alongside you. We’ll always be grateful that you did.

Happy last “first day” of the academic year, Class of 2027. You’ll always hold a special place in our hearts.

It’s going to be an amazing year. Keep making us proud.

How can we better prepare future nurses to integrate nutrition into patient care? Our faculty are exploring that question through new research.

Published in "Nurse Educator", a peer-reviewed journal focused on nursing education, the work grew from an interdisciplinary collaboration among Brett Romano Ely, Ph.D., assistant professor of health sciences, Amy Delaney, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor of nursing, and Randi Beranbaum, MS, RD, adjunct professor of health sciences. Together, they brought expertise across disciplines to develop innovative, clinical case-based teaching strategies aligned with the AACN Essentials.

Nutrition is an essential part of patient care, yet it can be underemphasized in nursing education. The study explores how competency-based approaches can strengthen students’ knowledge, confidence and readiness for practice.

The publication is a great example of how collaboration across disciplines can lead to meaningful educational innovation and better prepare our students for practice.

As a chapter of the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA), the Student Nurses Association gives our nursing students opportunities to connect with peers, grow as future nursing professionals, and get involved in their profession.

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is proud to share that two members of our nursing faculty have been named winners of Rhode Island Monthly's 2026 Excellence in Nursing awards.

Out of just 12 honorees selected from across the entire state, both faculty members were recognized for their excellence in the nursing profession!

🏆 Rachel Lyons, Ph.D., DNP, RN, APN, CPNC-AC/PC, DCC, CEN — assistant professor of nursing, honored as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, an award recognizing certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse practitioners.

🏆 Amy Delaney, Ph.D., RN, MSN, CPNP-AC/PC — assistant professor of nursing, honored as Nurse of the Year in Academic Setting, an award recognizing outstanding nurse educators in formal entry-level or graduate nursing education programs, as well as nurses who have led significant research impacting health care or community.

Both will be featured in Rhode Island Monthly's September issue and celebrated at the Excellence in Nursing awards event on September 10th at Kirkbrae Country Club.

Congratulations, Dr. Lyons and Dr. Delaney, on this well-deserved recognition! We're so proud of the leadership, mentorship, and dedication you bring to our students and the nursing profession every day. 👏

We are grateful for having our faculty be recognized and proud of how this accomplishment shines a light on the entire Providence College community.

We asked, you answered — and wow, what a summer! 🎉

🏥 Emma McCumber '27 (Health Policy & Management) wrapped up a ten-week internship at Edelman, gaining a firsthand look at the strategy behind healthcare communications. As she put it in a recent LinkedIn post: "I'm leaving this summer with a deeper understanding of healthcare communications, an appreciation for the strategy and collaboration behind the work, and lessons and relationships I'll carry with me into what comes next."

👩‍⚕️ Hannah Dube '27 celebrated "graduation" from her 10-week Student Nurse Internship at Landmark Medical Center! Two days a week she precepted on a tele/progressive care unit, plus a day in class and rotations through the Operating Room, Labor and Delivery, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Cancer Center, Emergency Room, and more.

🩸 Anna Lord '27 finished her Student Nurse Internship (SNI) at South County Health and is officially phlebotomy certified! She'll continue working per diem as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at the hospital throughout the school year.

🏐 Mac Miller '27 (Health Sciences) was named a captain for Women's Volleyball — congrats, Mac! (Spotted this one on Instagram — she really is #1 😉)

So proud of these students for their hard work this summer. Way to go! 💪
