JWU Global was honored to welcome representatives from the Institute of International Education to campus today for a meaningful discussion about supporting and engaging Fulbright students.

The conversation highlighted the importance of international education, cross-cultural exchange, and creating opportunities for students to make a global impact through the Fulbright Program. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect and explore ways to continue fostering global learning experiences for our community.

✨April’s Student Spotlight is here! ✨

Every month we shine a light on students who are making an impact and leaving their own personal pawprint in JWU’s legacy. This month we have Rhema Blackman from The Bahamas, on track to graduate this semester! 🎓💙

Rhema is a Food & Beverage Industry Management and Baking & Pastry Arts major. After her graduation this semester, she hopes to gain practical experience in the pastry arts field and build leadership and organizational skills as a part of her OPT. According to her, JWU gave her the opportunity to expand her knowledge base outside the classroom beyond her imagination. Her time here has enabled her to build a strong foundation in pastry not only through classes but also through the study abroad opportunity at ENSP in France. Additionally, her educational experience has broadened her perspective on the various career paths that the degree could potentially lead to which inspired her to explore opportunities she had not considered before.

In her free time, Rhema enjoys going for walks, dancing, and listening to music. She has been involved in campus life through clubs like the JWU Dance Team, the Christian Student Fellowship, West Indian Student Association, and she currently serves as the Treasurer for Eta Sigma Delta Hospitality Honors Society.

💬 When we asked her for some advice to share with her fellow international wildcats, this is what she had to say:
“Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. As an international student, it can be hard at first to become acclimated to new cultures but take the opportunity to try new experiences and meet new people. JWU has so many opportunities and communities that allow you to grow personally and professionally. There are also clubs on campus that you can get involved with that connects with your hobbies or professional interests.”
