Turnaround Arts: Providence is part of a national public-private partnership that leverages the arts to help turn around the nation’s lowest performing schools. Turnaround Arts: Providence is run by the City of Providence’s Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Providence Public School Department and is one of 17 localities from across the nation selected by the Kennedy Center and President

’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Arts, and several private foundations. Providence’s Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Providence Public School Department were selected to participate in Turnaround Arts, a program of the Kennedy Center and The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, launched in conjunction with the White House, the U.S. Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Arts, and several private foundations.

Deadline to Register for the Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest is Friday, December 20th! Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition to high schools across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. The competition is a state to national event held in early spring.
