Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies at RI College Founded in 2006, the IPLWS is a nucleus of education on Portuguese language and world cultures.

The IPLWS is dedicated to fostering connections between Rhode Island College and Lusophone communities in the region and pursuing scholarly research and cultural projects related to the Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures.

Felix Fonseca Garcia was recognized in Portuguese with the Prémio em Estudos Portugueses of the IPLWS and in World Languages Education with the Mary Alice Grellner Educational Studies Senior Award from the Educational Studies department!
Also, congratulations to Gabriel Matos who was awarded the Outstanding Economics Student from the Economics and Finance department!

Ms. Lisa Andrade and a group of her EEP-Portuguese students from Seekonk High School joined the course PORT 261: Island Cultures of the Portuguese-Speaking World in discussing the films Some Kind of Funny Porto Rican? A Cape Verdean American Story, by filmmaker Claire Andrade-Wattkins; and The Power of Nostalgia: Episode 8 of Slatersville: America's First Mill Village by Christian De Rezendes!
