A place that shapes a lifetime 🤎

For Herma Gebru ’10, Brown was more than a university—it was a place that shaped who she is today and gave her lifelong friendships.

That’s why she gives: to make sure others have that same chance.

Your gift helps create experiences that last far beyond four years—connections, growth, and a sense of belonging that stays with you for life.

Be part of that impact.

It’s access. It’s possibility. It’s someone’s turning point.

Some conversations stay with you long after they end.

At a recent event hosted by the Pembroke Center, Sarah LaBrie ’07 reflected on her mother’s late-in-life schizophrenia diagnosis and the generational patterns of silence, stigma, and missed signs that shaped her family’s story.

Through her memoir, No One Gets to Fall Apart, Sarah explores how writing became a way to understand her past—and herself. 💛

Grateful to the Pembroke Center for convening this powerful conversation, with support from the Brown Women’s Network and the Disability & Neurodivergent Alumni Collective.

If this conversation resonates, we invite you to continue the journey:

With 15 years of strategic marketing experience across media and nonprofits, Susan is driven by the power of storytelling and the belief that meaningful connection creates real impact. Most recently at Simon & Schuster, she led partner marketing and reimagined community programming and live events—bringing people together through thoughtful, creative engagement. Next up in our Spotlight Series: please join us in welcoming Jenny Moffitt ’02, Engagement Strategy Co-Chair for the Brown Women’s Network! 🌾✨

Literally raised in a barn on her family’s organic walnut farm, Jenny has built a remarkable career bringing people together across business, nonprofits, and government to strengthen food systems and rural communities. As the first woman to serve as Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the USDA, she led national efforts to expand market access and support farmers and ranchers. Now a Senior Fellow at American Farmland Trust, Jenny continues to lead with purpose—fueled by coffee ☕, a love of National Parks 🏞️, and a deep commitment to service.

We’re thrilled to welcome Jenny to the BWN leadership team and can’t wait for the energy and insight she’ll bring to our community. 🤍
