Elena Cabral ’26 and Ben Kuran ’26 presented their posters last month at the 12th International Fission Yeasts Meeting held in Boston. Their faculty advisor is Dr. Kristi Miller, Assistant Professor of Providence College Biology. This meeting brings together researchers worldwide who use fission yeast as a model system to study many essential cell biological processes – including cell size control and cell polarity to name a few. These discoveries deepen our understanding of human biology and inform the development of novel therapeutics.

A highlight of the meeting was a research talk by Nobel Laureate Sir Paul Nurse.
