DUG Leader Application is now OPEN!

Are you interested in concentration events and advising? Apply to become a Cog(Neuro) DUG leader for the upcoming academic year (2021-2022)! We encourage all concentrators to apply! The deadline for application is Monday, March 22nd 11:59pm!

The roles of the DUG include:
1) logistics: ordering food, booking room etc
2) publicity: sending emails to the whole dug, advertising on today@brown and within the department
3) webmaster: maintaining website and fb page
4) team coordination: correspond with department advisors on tentative plans such as concentration fair and declaration day
5) finance: budgeting, reimbursement forms

This is Yee Won Kim, another one of our Cog DUG leaders as well as the manager of this very page (feel very welcome to DM us through Facebook for any questions, chats, advice, etc.). Yee Won is a senior ('21) studying Cognitive Neuroscience on the pre-med track. She does research, is on Brown EMS, and is a RI native. CLPS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM.

For mentors:
Please fill out this short form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf43VDbl6_J1VFESdxT4rKI47nBoMO_WVNkL-0z0d6bjx6CPw/viewform?usp=sf_link) if you're interested, and we will pair you with your mentee(s) in about a week. The comment below has some information on what the program is about and mentor's roles.

For mentees:
This semester, we will only include sophomores in the program, but beginning in the spring freshmen will be able to join as mentees.You will be matched based on common interests in CLPS and in future/career goals. The program is meant to help you choose CLPS courses, figure out which concentration to declare and how to stay on track, learn how to get involved in research, discuss career interests, etc. See the attached doc for more details on the program!

Next, we'd like to introduce you to our Cog(Neuro) DUG leader Noa, a junior from New York studying Cognitive Neuroscience. Noa is an undergraduate researcher in the Shenhav Lab and Aging & Cognition Lab in the CLPS department, and the Neurophysiology & Neuromodulation Lab in the Department of Neurosurgery at RIH. Additionally, Noa is involved with the Carney Institute, helping to plan programming for computational neuroscience undergrads. She's interested in research focusing on developmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and traumatic brain injuries. Feel free to reach out to her if you have questions about classes, research and clinical experience, career options, or just to chat!

Next up, we have Felicia, a senior from Valley Stream, NY, concentrating in Cognitive Science. Felicia works in Prof Fulvio Domini's 3D Information for Perception and Action Lab. She's interested in Human-Computer Interaction and UX Design (our new website, coming soon, will show off all her talent!), and is specifically interested in how we perceive 3D information. Additionally, she focuses on design for social impact. Reach out to Felicia for any CogSci questions, and if you're interested in the intersection of design and tech! Meet your Cog(Neuro) DUG Leaders! Over the next few days, we'll be introducing you to the members of our DUG. We're excited for a year full of of CogSci and neuro fun!

First up, we have Amanda, a rising senior studying Cognitive Neuroscience. Originally from New Jersey, Amanda is an undergraduate researcher in the Badre Lab, where she studies working memory and executive function. Additionally, she's an RA in the Neurology Department at Rhode Island Hospital where she uses neuroimaging methods for stroke patients. She is also interested in Parkinson's disease. Feel free to reach out to Amanda to chat about anything and everything neuro related, or if you have premed questions!
