At one point, Cali Hanson Black thought she’d spend her life teaching sixth grade. She loved the classroom — but after becoming a mother, she felt prompted to step away and trust God had another plan.

Soon after, the Church introduced Come Follow Me, and everything clicked.

Using the teaching skills she developed at BYU and in her classroom, Cali began creating simple, approachable scripture-study content online. What started as a way to help the young women in her ward grew into a worldwide community through Come Follow Me Study.

Today, she helps hundreds of thousands of people better understand the scriptures by making doctrine accessible and approachable. ✨📖

Join us for Arts Express, the annual summer conference hosted by the BYU Arts Partnership. With 50+ hands-on breakout sessions, this conference equips educators—both current and future—with innovative and joyful strategies to integrate the arts into their teaching.

Arts Express 2026 will take place June 9-10 at Vista Heights Middle School. Any educator who wants CEU or USBE credit is eligible to receive it through conference attendance.
