The 41st Annual Vocal Extravaganza Celebration of the Voice will include a sneak peak at Opera/Musical Theatre's tribute to Victor Herbert as part of the School of Music's 125th Anniversary, which will occur on November 19. Victor Herbert, often considered the Grandfather of American Musical Theatre, composed 43 operettas for the Broadway stage around the turn of the 20th Century. Scenes from Mlle. Modiste and Naughty Marietta will be presented. Also performing on the concert will be seven singers representing the voice studios of Dr. Julie Anne Wieck and Professor Toy, performing art song and operatic arias, as well as musical theatre selections and an homage to Dolly Parton! All of these performances are made possible through the support of Elena Panchenko, piano! So come to Bryan Hall Theatre on Friday, October 23 at 7:30 for some wonderful singing!
