✨Here are highlights from this past weekend’s Appalachian Studies Association conference at Marshall University.

Dr. Stuart Robinson, Dr. Carlee Bradbury, Morgan Gilbert (Professor of Art at SWCC in Abingdon), and Ashley Palazzo (Archivist at McConnell Library) presented “Mapping Appalachian Art History,” sharing their ongoing collaborative research.

They also connected with Radford University alum Luc White, who presented poetry and research from their MFA program at the University of New Mexico.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the 2026 Southwest Virginia High School Art Show Reception at the Radford University Art Museum.

It was wonderful to celebrate the talented high school artists from across Southwest Virginia and to recognize this year’s award winners. We are grateful to the students, families, teachers, and supporters who came to celebrate the incredible work on view.

✨Huge congratulations to Lou O’Neil for presenting her paper at the annual conference of the College Art Association in Chicago on February 21 — selected as one of only 11 undergraduate researchers!✨

Her paper, “Reexamining the Narrative of Multitasking Women through Time,” was very well received, and she represented Radford University with professionalism and grace alongside students from Brown University and Washington University in St. Louis.

With her mentor Dr. Carlee Bradbury, they connected with Radford alum Luc White (CAA 2023). Both students’ research has been supported by the OURS Office (Research Rookies, SURF, and travel funding), which Lou acknowledged during the Q&A.
