The STARS (Student Travel and Research Support) fund is a great way to have a major impact on the professional development of our psychology students. We would truly appreciate your support today.

Here are some our Psychology students presenting their work supported by STARS funding.

Kaylyn Wertz traveled to Boston, MA for the Psychonomic Society Conference with STARS funding in the Spring of 2023.

She wrote “Being a part of Radford University’s Graduate Experimental Psychology program has given me the opportunity to further my professional development and research experience. With the help of the STARS grant, I was able to travel to Boston to attend the Annual Psychonomic Society Conference and present some of my own research. There were numerous presentations and seminars that were being held throughout the conference and attending them helped spur my interest in psychology even more. They provided me with the chance to gain new perspectives on research topics that can help inform my own research and future projects. I’m thankful that STARS and Radford University were able to help support my academic endeavors and give me the opportunity to grow both as a student and as a professional.”

More testimonies just like Kaylyn’s will be shared throughout . Don’t miss out on each of these along with the opportunity to help more of our Radford Highlanders! https://give.radford.edu/stars

The STARS fund has a profound impact on the professional development of many of our psychology majors. Even a very small contribution can be really helpful and is tremendously appreciated.

Highlander Giving Day is underway! One of our favorite parts about Giving Day is the amazing support of our alumni. Thank you to the generous donors - Scott Light '91, Ed Reams '91, Jeff MacKinnon '85, Byron Chafin '90, Jim Egbert '87, Cynthia Price '87, Jim Mcguire '89 and Carter Turner - who generously offered challenge dollars to help maximize the total amount of donors and dollars raised for this fund!

Can you help us meet TWO AMAZING challenges and unlock the additional funds?

If you would like to donate to help our students grow and succeed you can do so through our link. Any amount or even just sharing the link helps!

Who is ready for a Throwback Thursday?

The CHBS STARS fund ensures our students are equipped to follow their course to success with less financial barriers. Lane Chrepta, History major, was able to attend the 42nd Annual International Conference of the Haskins Society in the fall of 2023. She shared a few words on what this experience meant to her.

“Attending the 42nd International Conference of the Haskins Society was an amazing experience. I was able to reconnect with people I met last year and make new connections. Going to this conference last year was what helped me decide that I wanted to major in history, and going this year has helped me narrow down what precisely I want to study. The papers presented ranged from “Visual Storytelling in Stone” to “Recreating Lost Early Medieval Spaces in Virtual Reality.” If it weren’t for the STARS grant, I wouldn’t have been able to attend and make all of these wonderful connections and memories."

Our students have the freedom to learn from experience and the STARS fund makes this possible.

Today is National Philanthropy Day, which makes it the perfect day for Radford University’s third annual Day of Gratitude! Today we celebrate the donors who make it possible for us to support our students every day. Donations help fund scholarships, academic research, arts initiatives, travel to national conferences, support for our athletic teams and more. These opportunities would not be available without the dedication and generosity of our donors!

We had a lot of psychology majors participating in this year's event.

The Fall 2024 Wicked Festival was Thursday night. Almost 600 students shared their takes on solutions to the world's most challenging public problems. Hosted by the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University, the event was held for the first time in the beautiful new Artis Center building. Our distinguished speaker Dr. Danielle Lake of Elon University fired the students with hope that they can make change in the real world. Congratulations to Wickie award winners and all students who are growing in their confidence and abilities to solve problems and present their ideas publicly.

STARS supports a great number of Psychology students every year. These are really life changing opportunities where students get involved in real professional experiences.

Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude and today we say a heart-felt thank you to each individual who supported our students by supporting the CHBS Student Travel and Research Support (STARS) Fund. Since establishment in 2021 we have been able to grant financial help to over 60+ students and that is all because of the generosity of donors.

Freedom to learn from experience with active learning and active doing, that’s our Highlanders!
