Today’s is Lilly Fox! Lilly is an achieving, competitive, relator, with a major in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration and a French minor.

Lilly has been involved in several clubs and organizations during her time at Meredith, including Honors, Meredith Soccer, SAAC, Phi Beta Lambda, Bath Tub Ring member, Emerging Leaders 2019, and the NCFC Kickstarters Spring Program.

Lilly has also stayed busy off-campus, completing three internships as an undergrad! She completed internships with Womble Bond Dickinson as a Digital Marketing Intern, Taskmaster Components, and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture as a Digital Content Specialist. Lilly shares “Through all my experiences I developed a great admiration for social media marketing.” Great job, Lilly!

When asked about her favorite part of her Meredith experience, Lilly shares she has loved the Meredith traditions, especially being a part of the Bath Tub Ring! Lilly shares that she and the other members were “all happy and energized to be there and sing!”

Our next is Calley Pennington! Calley is an outgoing, diligent and resilient Biology and Chemistry major. After graduation, Calley plans to apply to PA school to become a Physician Associate. Good luck on your applications, Calley!

Calley has been involved in several clubs and organizations at Meredith, including the Meredith Health Professional Society, American Chemistry Society, and Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. Calley also served as a mentor at a summer leadership camp, where she had the opportunity to help students learn and grow. Great job, Calley!

When asked about her favorite part of her Meredith experience, Calley shares she has loved the tight-knit community at Meredith. “There is always something going on on-campus that you can attend and be included in, no matter the affiliation or lack-there-of. Everyone is always included and no one is ever left out!”

When asked about her favorite part of her Meredith experience, Jasmine shared she has loved meeting new people and learning new things. “Coming into Meredith I didn't know much about the school, but through my time here I came to learn why this school is so great!” Jasmine’s relationship with Dr. Serr has been particularly impactful and supportive during her time at Meredith. We love to hear it, Jasmine!

Our next is June Burchette! June is a passionate, trusting, and charismatic Psychology major, pursuing a K-6 teaching licensure. Following graduation, June hopes to begin teaching!

As a student at Meredith, June has been involved with the Teaching Fellows program as well as the Meredith Advocates for Young Children (MAYC). She has also had some great experiential learning opportunities as she has been hands-on in an elementary classroom. June shares “I loved this experience and being able to jump in head first to help better prepare myself after I walk across the stage.” Great job, June!

The Education faculty have been influential in June’s time at Meredith - especially Dr. Cece Toole. June shares “Dr. Cece Toole is the reason I survived the last 4 years. She always made sure to go the extra mile for me, ensure I was prepared and stayed organized, and offered me advice and support in hard times. She took the time to get to know me and every other student.” We love to hear stories about our awesome faculty members!

Rhoads has been involved on campus during her time at Meredith, serving as an Excursion Co-Chair for the Meredith Activities Board and a Support Counselor for the Honor Counsel.

When asked about her favorite part of her Meredith experience, Rhoads shared she has appreciated the small class sizes. “All of my professors have known my name, and have been available to reach out to for help because they're not overwhelmed by students.” We love that part of the Meredith community, too!

Today’s is Suha Ahmed! Suha is a reserved, cooperative, and responsible Public Health major with a minor in Psychology. Following graduation, Suha plans to prepare for med school, where she hopes to gain clinical experience and study for the MCAT.

Suha has been involved in various clubs and organizations at Meredith, including serving on the board for the Muslim Student Association, MHPS, Association of Meredith Commuters, and TriBeta. She has also been a student worker in the library.

During her time at Meredith, Suha completed an internship with the Student Health Center, where she worked closely with Dr. Johnson by assisting with on-campus surveillance testing. Great job, Suha!

Suha shares that one of her most memorable classroom experiences was with Dr. Ross in Interpersonal Communication. She shares “COM 260 was my first class on my first day at Meredith . . . as soon as I arrived on campus and was walking towards my first class, the nerves started to hit me. When I saw Dr. Ross and when she began her lecture, it was such a pleasant start to my journey here at Meredith. I enjoyed attending her class every single time, her lectures were so informative, and she would present it in a wonderful way!”

Our next is Maria Huidobro! Emily is an ambitious, creative, and dedicated Computer Science major with Math, French, and Graphic Design minors. Following graduation, Maria will be working as an Associate Systems Architect at SAS. Congratulations!

Maria has been involved in many areas across campus, including serving as the President of Hues, an Iris Ambassador, SAS Ambassador, Paschal Scholar, OCrew Member, Alpha Lambda Delta Member, Canaday Math & Computer Science Publicity Chair, Golden Door Scholars Ambassador, French & Computer Science Tutor at the Learning Center, Art Club Member, and Fuego Dance Club Member.

Maria also completed a summer internship with SAS. She shares “It was such a great experience. I got to meet so many people and make great connections. I participated in so many intern events and learned a lot from everyone around me. Networking and hard work led to a year round internship offer and a post-graduation full time offer which I happily accepted!” Great job, Maria!

Maria’s favorite part of her Meredith experience has been giving back to incoming and prospective students, whether it was talking in panels, giving tours, or greeting families in the mornings for open house events. Thank you for all your contributions to our community, Maria!

Today’s is Malia Garber! Malia is a focused, future-thinking, and achiever-minded Biology and Spanish major with a minor in Chemistry. Following graduation, Malia will be taking the DAT for dental school and applying for 2023 admission. After submitting her applications, Malia plans to work in a dental office as a dental assistant.

Malia has been involved in many different areas on campus, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Tri-Beta, La Tertulia, Sigma Delta Pi, Silver Shield, and the American Chemical Society (where she served as President!). Malia also served as a student advisor, campus tour guide, and a biology peer tutor in the Learning Center. In the summer of 2019, Malia studied abroad in Costa Rica and later became a study abroad peer ambassador to help encourage Meredith College students to study abroad!

Malia also completed an internship at Urban Ministries, which is a non-profit healthcare clinic here in Raleigh, NC. She served as the Access to Care intern, working with Spanish-speaking patients. During her internship, Malia was able to improve her communication skills while conducting interviews with patients. Great job, Malia!

Malia’s favorite part of her Meredith experience has been the friendships she has made. She shares “The friends that I have now are people that will forever be a part of my life. They are my best supporters and I know they will always be there for me.”

Our next is Emily Spain! Emily is a creative, dependable, and resilient Musical Theatre major with a Psychology minor. Following graduation, Emily will be participating in the Disney College Program from October to March, then will go to grad school to become a Board Certified Behavior Analysis. Congratulations!

Emily has served as the Alpha Psi Omega President for two years and has worked for the Meredith Autism Program. She has also been involved in multiple theatre productions at Meredith, and participated as a member of the Extra theatre company. Not only has Emily been involved on campus, she also studied abroad for two months in Italy and the UK!
