Wake Tech Health Sciences was honored to participate in the inaugural Kids Dental Day, hosted by Delta Dental of North Carolina in partnership with the North Carolina Courage!

Our Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene faculty and students joined community partners at WakeMed Soccer Park to provide free dental screenings and oral health education to 175 children from Triangle-area Boys & Girls Clubs.

This event was about so much more than dental screenings. It was an opportunity to educate, build confidence, create positive experiences with healthcare, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children across our community.

We are incredibly proud of our students and faculty for sharing their knowledge, skills, and compassion. Experiences like this show our students the true impact of healthcare education—using what they learn to serve others and potentially change the trajectory of a child’s health.

Thank you to Delta Dental of North Carolina, the North Carolina Courage, and all the community partners who made this incredible day possible. We are proud to represent Wake Tech and support healthier smiles throughout our community! 💙💛😁

This summer, eight students from Wake Early College of Health and Science successfully completed the 14-week Pharmacy Technician Training Program. The program included 120 hours of classroom instruction, 56 hours of laboratory training, and 238 hours of clinical experience at various pharmacies throughout Wake County. Successfully completing the program required these students to dedicate their entire summer break to their education.
Upon completion of the program, the students are now eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). We are extremely proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to completing this rigorous program, and we wish them the very best as they begin taking their certification exams.

During Dental Assistants Recognition Week, the Dental Assisting students at Wake Technical Community College proudly celebrated the important role dental assistants play in the dental profession. This special week provided an opportunity to recognize the dedication, skill, and commitment that dental assistants bring to patient care and the dental team each day.

Our students enjoyed participating in the celebration and were especially grateful for the Dental Assistants Recognition Week cookies provided by Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and the DALE Foundation. The thoughtful gesture helped make the celebration even more meaningful for our students as they continue their journey toward becoming dental professionals.

At Wake Technical Community College, we strongly encourage our students to challenge the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential through the Dental Assisting National Board. Our program consistently promotes this national certification and strives for 100% of our graduating class to earn their CDA credentials. Achieving this milestone reflects a high standard of professional competence and prepares our students to enter the workforce with confidence.

We take great pride in supporting our students as they pursue certification and professional excellence. Celebrating Dental Assistants Recognition Week serves as a reminder of the impact dental assistants make in improving patient care and strengthening the dental profession.
