As we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, we are proud to shine a light on two phenomenal women whose leadership, service, and faith are transforming lives and communities right here in North Carolina.
🌸 Rev. Hershey Mallette Stephens
A proud Raleigh native, Rev. Hershey’s journey is deeply rooted in faith, storytelling, and service. From her work in Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s Office of Evangelism, where she led the Beloved Community Story Sharing Campaign, to her current role as Dean of the Chapel at Saint Augustine’s University, she has dedicated her life to uplifting voices, building bridges across difference, and creating spaces for discovery and celebration. Rev. Hershey’s passion for listening to and learning from young people reminds us that leadership begins with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
🌸 Rep. Monika Johnson‑Hostler
A servant leader through and through, Sister Monika’s impact spans public service, advocacy, and sisterhood. As a Representative for North Carolina House District 33, former member of the Wake County Board of Education, and Executive Director of the NC Coalition Against Sexual Assault, she continues to champion justice and equity for all. Within Alpha Theta Omega Chapter, she has faithfully served as assistant secretary and committee chair for Technology, Social Justice & Advocacy, Founders’ Day, and Nominating — all while embracing her most important role: being a mother to her 20‑year‑old daughter.
Together, these women embody the very best of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® — scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood in action. We honor their dedication, celebrate their impact, and are inspired by the legacy they continue to build. 💕💚
