A message from MCU President Brian Marcotte: It is with deep and heartfelt sadness that I share with you today the news that Marymount California University has made the difficult decision to permanently close its doors Aug. 31, 2022. Like other small, tuition-dependent schools, MCU has struggled financially in recent years in the face of declining enrollment, rising costs and a pandemic. The decision was made after an exhaustive review of options that could provide the critical financial support needed to keep the university up and running. Unfortunately, these alternatives and their associated timeframes were ultimately deemed unworkable.

MCU has been an extraordinary gem of an institution for more than 50 years with its tight-knit family, amazing campus community and supportive alumni. While this is an extremely difficult decision for all of us at MCU, we are hopeful that the lasting memories of our Mariner community can be of the joyous moments, personal growth and enduring friendships that were made here.
