The University of New Mexico-Taos, Upward Bound Math and Science Upward Bound Math & Science helps Taos area high school students prepare for college. Participants remain in the program through graduation.

UNM-Taos Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) helps Taos high school students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science, while encouraging them to pursue postsecondary degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics). Funded by the US Department of Education TRiO Grant Initiative, UBMS is a comprehensive STEM college preparation program. UBMS strengthens

the math and science skills of participating students while providing them opportunities for community engagement, leadership, counseling, and college and career advisement. The program supports up to 60 area high school students who can be identified as low income as defined by Federal guidelines and/or potential first-generation college students where neither parent has earned a Bachelor’s degree. Program services are FREE to participants and designed to support the academic program at the participating high schools.

Please mask up when visiting our campus 😷

Effective Monday, August 2, 2021, UNM will require masks to be worn indoors by all individuals, vaccinated and unvaccinated, at all locations on the UNM Albuquerque, Taos, and Valencia campuses, as well as our regional site in Sandoval County. Masks must be worn in any indoor group setting, including classrooms.

This masking policy will be revisited as we continue to watch the relevant data on disease progression, including community transmission, test positivity rates, and rates of spread.

The best way to bring community transmission down is vaccination. Please sign up to be fully vaccinated at https://bit.ly/3BSLa5E.

UNM is still providing incentives to students and some employees to be fully vaccinated. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3ifKfmG.

Based on state DOH data, about 81% of UNM employees (outside of the health system) are fully vaccinated, and over 56% of students. Let’s get those numbers up and !
