Meet Estevan Martinez, a student at The University of New Mexico-Taos and vice president of Student Government.

Estevan is proud to serve in both roles. This summer, he and the Student Government team are working to organize, plan and build a stronger foundation for the year ahead.

Their goal is simple: help create a great environment for students and the UNM-Taos community.

Estevan’s commitment to service goes beyond campus. A lifelong Taoseño, he also volunteers with the Taos Fiesta Council and serves as its vice president. He works with the Town of Taos on projects that support the local community.

Student leadership matters. At UNM-Taos, students like Estevan help shape the campus experience.

High school students can get a head start on college through dual credit at The University of New Mexico-Taos.

Dual credit lets students take college classes while still in high school. These classes count toward both a high school transcript and a college transcript.

In New Mexico, dual credit is tuition-free. School districts also cover required course materials, such as textbooks.

That means students can save money, build confidence and move toward an associate or bachelor’s degree at a faster pace.

Kelsey Mead, who oversees the dual credit program at UNM-Taos, says one of the best parts of her work is getting to know students, learning about their goals and supporting them along the way.

Last week HIVE wrapped up our 3rd annual Pollinator program! This small business incubator runs 8 weeks, with 25+ entrepreneurs, all leading up to HIVE market day! (Pictured here)
Small business owners got a chance to showcase their products/services and practice their elevator pitches while receiving feedback from one another! 🐝
Thank you for another great Pollinator! It is a joy to work with such talented groups.

Before summer classes begin, here are a few photos from woodworking.

This class has been a great reminder of how much learning happens through making, testing, adjusting and trying again. Thanks to our students and instructors for bringing such good energy to the shop this spring.
