May is Jewish American Heritage Month. Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) celebrates the impact of Jewish Americans on American life and highlights religious pluralism. The month was chosen under the George W. Bush administration in 2006 to coincide with the 350th anniversary of Jewish arrival in New Amsterdam (now New York).
Learn about Jewish American artifacts in the collections of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History that speak to the long history of Jewish presence first in British North America and then the United States.
