A hub for geographic discovery, innovation, applied research, service, and community, the Institute for Geospatial Impact (IGI) fosters the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and related technologies to advance the university's academic mission. Opened on July 1, 2014, the Center for Spatial Studies helps integrate spatial thinking and technologies into instruction, research, and service

to the University and community at large. Additionally, with its expertise in spatial analysis, programming, project management, and fund development, the CSS also supports the efforts of faculty to secure sponsored projects that contribute to scholarship and instruction at the University.
