Suture removal today! Our students learned on a hot dog, yes you saw and read that correctly! Mrs. Milton’s specialty class works with our students on proper suture removal and how to check to confirm the entire suture has been removed from the oral tissue. Always a fun lab to be a part of!

Our class of 2026 has been working extremely hard this year. We have been busy busy busy. Our Dental students are in the process of their Coronal Polishing Certification. And these students are rocking it.

This past week our instructors Mrs. Garza and Mrs. Milton jumped in with a ROP jumpstart program at Reedley College. They hosted 19 Amazing incoming high school seniors from Orosi, Dinuba, Kingsburg and Sanger High Schools. And did we mention these students were amazing??? Throughout the week, the medical pathway students, learned about impressions, temporary restoration materials, mixing Amalgam filling, suture removal, anesthetic, radiology and basic tooth anatomy. At the end of their week in our facility the students were able to tour Dr. Fanaian’s office in Reedley and Hispano Dental in Selma. We were so lucky and impressed to have been able to meet each and every one of these Seniors and we wish them all the best in the healthcare studies!

Eeek! Our girls just finished up their first full week of clinical training! Our students are paired with a dental office that takes one student in and works on training the student with hands on dental practice. Our dental students will complete 265 hours of in office work. One week down! Keep it up ladies!

Teamwork makes appointments go so quicker and smoother. Today our students started working on their Pit and Fissure Sealants certifications. Our students bring in outside patients to place a preventative sealant on the occlusal (biting surface) of the teeth that are sometimes hard to keep clean due to the anatomy. The is a simple process that does not cause any harm to the tooth.

Greens Index. Our students worked on each other today, after practicing last week on themselves. The students use a disclosing liquid that is applied to the teeth that shows the areas missed when brushing in bright Red. It adheres to the leftover plaque. The students read the results and tally up the point value and discuss with their patients better brushing and flossing.

Working on 4 handed dentistry. Our students have been working hard on their ability to use their non-dominant hand to pick up and pass instruments, while learning how to rotate that same instrument with that same hand to pass back to the dentist. 🦷 way to go ladies!
