At the University of Nevada, Reno, the Master of Social Work program is structured around the advanced generalist practice. Social work is not an exclusive discipline, so the aim is not to prepare specialists. The reality is that social workers collaborate with many professions, including psychology, public health, education, business and medicine. Students and graduates of the University of Nevad
a MSW program work in hospitals, schools, government organizations, nonprofits, corporations and private practice. They are agents of change. As a National Tier 1 University (U.S. News & World Report), it is our mission to educate effective, ethical social work leaders and practitioners. What does our position as a top public research university mean for you? It means that we help you develop the evidence-based knowledge needed to collaborate across multiple disciplines and create effective change. The online Master of Social Work is open to applicants with bachelor’s degrees from a variety of fields. There is the traditional Graduate Program - a 62-credit-hour program for students with bachelor’s degrees in fields other than social work. Then there is the Advanced Standing Track - a 32-credit-hour program for students with a BSW degree. Graduate in as few as 15 months. Both tracks are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), structured around advanced generalist practice (AGP), and prepare students for a variety of careers, including clinical practice.
