Nevada INBRE

Nevada INBRE INBRE – IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence – is a National Institutes of Health (NIH Nevada INBRE’s first funding cycle ran from 2005 to 2010.

During that period Nevada INBRE supported researchers at the state’s primary research institutions: University of Nevada, Reno; University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Nevada Cancer Institute. This support included funds for early career investigators as well as funds to establish and expand a series of statewide research service facilities. In addition, INBRE established and developed a Biomedical St

udents Pipeline Program that mentored under‐represented students enrolled in Nevada’s undergraduate colleges. Nevada INBRE’s second funding cycle runs from 2010-2015. The focus of this funding cycle is to build on the infrastructure developed during the first five years and to build new programs based on new NIH initiatives in clinical translational research as well as building more programs to serve undergraduates and encourage high school students to pursue degrees in the sciences. The following programs make up the focus of Nevada INBRE’s second funding cycle:

-Bringing more biomedical researchers to Nevada
-Supporting research service laboratories
-Enhancing programs to train the next generation of biomedical researchers
-Developing expertise in clinical and translational science
-Collaborating with other Western IDeA States
