U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Trailview Cottages in Hayward to tour the workforce housing development and meet with local and regional partners.

The project is part of a broader effort to expand access to affordable housing and workforce training in northwest Wisconsin as residents begin moving in.

On the final day of Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting Ashley Nicholson’s journey.

From dairy farm roots to a career in welding, she navigated pregnancy during training and graduated with honors from Northwood Technical College. Today, she is building critical infrastructure as a steelworker and helping pave the way for more women in the skilled trades.

On March 25, Northwood Tech in Superior held a welding competition, to help prepare it's students for their future careers.

Northwood Tech partnered with the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin to deliver an automotive technical diploma program focused on hands-on training and workforce development within the tribal community.

Students gained experience working on vehicles while building skills that support local workforce needs. Eight students completed the program, with several already applying what they learned in the workforce.

This partnership reflects a community-based approach to training, creating opportunities that stay within the community and support its future.

Today we’re highlighting Anna Moncrief, a student in Northwood Technical College’s Medical Billing Specialist program, who is building a future in health care while balancing family, education and career goals.

Through hard work and support from instructors and staff, Anna has already secured a full-time paid internship and is preparing for a career in medical billing and coding.

From blood draws to restraint and patient care, they showed confidence, compassion and professionalism while working alongside the Helping Paws team. It’s a great example of how hands-on experiences build both clinical skills and real-world confidence.
