This afternoon we got started on our pumpkin planting! We didn't get done... but should wrap up tomorrow. We are going for bigger and better than ever this year... and stay tuned for a surprise Fall update in the coming weeks.

Also, don't worry about the green you see us seeding through.... it will be return to the soil soon enough.

Huge thank you to our student workers Abby Otto and Tabitha Neace for helping us finish up seeing the white ones (moonshine) this afternoon!

So this post may not be as dairy as others will be this month... but we did score a picture with the beautiful Stateland Dairy in the background.

It's always a great day when we get to see students learning what they're capable of!

This morning our student employee Tabitha Neace was able to work alongside our new summer AGR 301 student Cate Hardcorn through morning dairy chores.

Once chores wrapped up they moved on to learning how to draw a blood sample from a cow so that we can check to see if the animal is pregnant! Both ladies pulled a perfect sample on their first try... and seeing that light in their eyes once they learn they can do something they never knew that they could is what we are all here for.

Great job, Tabitha and Cate!

Happy World Milk Day from our lovely and hard working ladies and the rest of us here at EKU Meadowbrook Farm and EKU Stateland Dairy!

We may be partial to celebrating these lovely ladies every day... but wheh we see that there is a day slated for World Milk Day and even that June is National Dairy Month here in the United States... we are always happy to give them an extra spotlight.

On this day 21 years ago our own beloved student employee Abby Otto was born!

We've yet to see Abby back down from any challenge that has been set before her... and we know that she's never going to. EKU and Agriculture are fortunate to have such a woman to represent them...

Happy Birthday Abby!

When she's been really good we let her drive the big tractor.

While not entirely complete, we have made great strides in trying to freshen up the main Dairy lobby area outside of our robot room. This space gets a lot of traffic and we want it to help show the unique hands-on experience our students get here at Eastern Kentucky University.

We want to express a huge thank you to the EKU Printing Services team for printing these awesome larger photo's that help tell our story! Also a huge thank you everyone for the pictures they sent in.

Last night we held our annual AGR 301 / Student Employee cookout, where we grill out and invite all of our AGR 301 students and Student Employees out for some good food and social time... possibly a wildly competitive game or 2 of Uno.

To each and every one of you who attended last night, thank you. Your commitment to not only EKU but also Agriculture and all of our futures is admired by us every day. We hope you've enjoyed this time with us as much as we have enjoyed each of you.

May all of us focus on this comimg weekend the way AGR301 Extraordinaire Delaney Flatter focuses on her precise feed loading as she loads a feed ration.

Attention all students who have spent time working in Stateland Dairy the past several years... be it as an employee, participating in a lab, or as an AGR301/302 student...

We are currently working on trying to spruce up the lobby in the dairy and would like to hang some pictures of you all doing what you do best out here. We want these photos to represent your hard work and the successes and growth you experience when you step into the dairy (as students have for over 100 years at EKU.)

While we have a lot of media from our Social Media presence... we know there are more photos out there. If you have any that you would like to submit to be considered please comment or message them to us here, or email them to [email protected]. We are going to do our best to keep these current and as the years go on will possibly be adding to them... but this will be phase 1 of the project.

Thanks for reading and we hope to see lots of new perspectives of Stateland Dairy from you all!
