Eastern Kentucky University was founded in 1906 with a faculty of seven. In 1909, when the first commencement was held, 11 people received degrees. Over the last century, we've grown to a full-fledged comprehensive university offering 145 degree programs and serving more than 15,000 students a year.

Amy Baumann Sapsford forged a pioneering path in neonatal care, built on her passion for nutrition. Equipped with a degree from , she’s helped develop specialized nutrition guidelines for critically ill newborns.

Her path didn’t stop there, though. Today, she and her husband support future EKU generations with scholarships. They’ve also provided funding for a preschool in rural South Africa that provides proper nutrition along with education. Read more about her story below! 🍼👶

His college path included a spot on the football team, involvement in ROTC and ultimately, a degree in biology and chemistry. These days, he’s combined his background in military, academia and business as the co-founder and CEO of LabyRx, a medical company developing a vaccine treatment for cancer.
