Help us in congratulating two ICCA professors for recently receiving honors at the EKU Scholars Showcase!

Senior Communication Studies Senior Lecturer John Strada was recognized for “Leadership in Engagement of Essential Skills in the Graduate Profile”, and Dr. Ginny Whitehouse, professor of multimedia journalism and director of the School of Communication, received the Library Partnership Awards for her work leading a team of archivists, faculty, and students identifying the descendants of African Americans enslaved in Madison County.

Lisa Brin of spoke with Professor Emily Hofelich’s BEM 400 “Multimedia Producing” class to discuss the growing film industry in Kentucky, and how the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive Program intends to attract and support more film and television productions.

Brin shared with students what industry executives might look for in a potential crew member, as well as resources for locating job opportunities in the Commonwealth.

Recently, ICCA School of Communication professors Krista Kimmel, Jennifer Fairchild, and John Strada, had the opportunity to present at the Southern States Communication Association’s (SSCA) 2026 Conference in Birmingham, Alabama to share the importance of student participation in study abroad programs at the university level.

Highlighting the long term benefits for students who participate in such programs, each gave insights into best practices for increasing student engagement in education abroad.
