Mary Fairfax Childs was born May 25th, 1846, in Kentucky, post celebrating her birthday

Hey all! Yesterday would have been Mary Fairfax Childs’s birthday! In celebration, we wanted to show off one of the poems this Kentucky-born author has written in our collection! This poem, titled “The Little Nazarene”, is about the birth of Christ and we hope it can serve as inspiration for other Kentucky authors out there!

April 30th is Hairstyle Appreciation Day, so we wanted to show off some gorgeous hairstyles from our photo collections. Everyone’s hair is unique and we are celebrating that today! What’s your favorite hairstyle decade?

Today is and one of our students has chosen the pictures for this ! Earth Day was first held on April 22, 1970, to raise awareness of environmental issues following a massive 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. EKU always has events for Earth Day and we have several pictures in our collections of tree planting, concerts, and river clean-up events. You can check those out at our website!
