The Indiana University East School of Nursing and Health Sciences is proud to announce the opening of the Nurses Den, a new student-centered space in Hayes Hall designed to give nursing students a place to connect, recharge, collaborate, and build community.

At the heart of the Nurses Den is a simple message: Stronger Together.

The phrase has become a motto for the space and reflects the larger vision behind the project- that nursing education is not an experience students navigate alone. Success is strengthened through relationships with classmates, faculty and mentors.

There was an opportunity to create a dedicated space within Hayes Hall where nursing students could gather and develop an even stronger sense of connection to their program and one another.

The space is intentionally open to faculty as well as students. Faculty members are encouraged to stop by informally, spend time with students, or potentially hold open office hours in the space.

By creating opportunities for interaction outside of the classroom and traditional office environment, the Nurses Den can help strengthen student-faculty relationships, promote mentorship, and reinforce a culture in which students feel supported throughout their nursing education.

The School of Nursing officially celebrated the Nurses Den's grand opening today during the Nursing Collaborative Lunch, providing an opportunity for students and faculty to experience the completed space together. Bringing students and faculty together for the opening reflected exactly what the Nurses Den is intended to encourage: conversation, connection, and community.

Whether students are preparing for an exam, navigating a difficult clinical experience, engaging with faculty, celebrating a milestone, or simply sharing a cup of coffee with a classmate, the message of the Nurses Den remains the same: We are stronger together.
