Members of Lambda Pi Eta were thrilled with the turn out to such a great event. Thank you to our alumni who attended this event. You all shared some invaluable knowledge to the younger family.

Last evening's Alumni Virtual Speaker Series: Career Conversations was a big success. Thanks again to the alumni that took part; Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, Jonathan Slavin ’92, Board of Trustees member Genevieve McGillicuddy ‘94, Jason Potterton ’07, Johnny Amendola ’18, and Nicholas Park ‘17.

Day 3:

is defined as “the ability or skills to critically analyze for accuracy, credibility, or evidence of bias the content created and consumed in various media, including radio and television, the internet, and social media.”
—————————————————————————————
In short: it’s all about properly understanding the media we see around us.

In the midst of a global pandemic and election season, when understanding what we see online and on TV is arguably more important than ever, there’s also oodles of misinformation to wade through. In many ways, the line between what’s true and what’s not has been blurred to an extent perhaps never seen before.

That makes misinformation and disinformation more dangerous than ever before. Thankfully, there’s ways to better understand the media we look at every day.

An educated population is always better than one that is uneducated. While many of us don’t get the chance to teach ourselves how to properly analyze media when we’re younger, that doesn’t mean we can’t get started now.

Lambda Pi Eta students at Franklin Pierce University will be busy this week helping to educate people on how to better understand what they see in media, be it social media, TV, radio, YouTube, or newspapers. Keep an eye out on our social media pages for more posts on how to better inform yourself on media literacy all week long.

You can always head to the United States Media Literacy Week website or the National Association for Media Literacy Education website for more resources on media literacy.

Members from the current FPU Lambda group and our advisor Dr. Phyllis Zrzavy held an encouragement table in the glass foyer on Franklin Pierce's campus today. We passed out Starburst candies with words of encouragement attached to them to spread some positivity through campus. This was our first time doing a service project of this nature and it went really well!

"Take some encouragement, spread some encouragement."
