A big shout-out to Michele Chalice of Healthy Home Habitats for showing me how to germinate and grow native plants from seed, using milk jugs and hand-collected, local seed sources! The result: An abundance of lovely perennials, to be transplanted into the new FPU Butterfly garden next week. The New England aster shown isn't the native variety unfortunately, but still it is a beauty and as you can see, the honeybees love it! (have seen butterflies and bumblebees on it too!).

Our Franklin Pierce University Institute for Climate Action interns will plant these next week, in the hope that by planting more natives and supporting biodiversity, we are creating a more climate-resilient campus! P.S. We will be using the milk-jug germination technique in several classes this fall. So brilliant!

Thinking about "assisted migration"...for plants and animals facing climate change! Here is the flower of the "tulip tree", a slightly more southern species (it's in CT and south), that I'd like to plant at work or home. Climate change is taking a toll on the natural world! You can help us reduce greenhouse gases by donating to the Monadnock Sustainability Hub through NH Gives, today, Wed. 6/12! Donate here:

Reaching out to many of my favorite former students! I am working with a group MMonadnock Sustainability Hubthat is actively implementing solutions to the climate crisis! We are reducing greenhouse gases by writing a grant for the first EV fast charger in the area, installing solar panels to support local farms, helping people weatherize their homes and electrify their lives with clean energy! We are in the midst of a 24-hour fundraiser, and we have match so all your donations will be doubled! There is a prize for the group that has the most donations so even a small amount is helpful. Donate at the link below if you can, by Wed. 6/12 at 5 pm, and THANK YOU!

Hey there! Are you worried about climate change? (You should be! 2023 was the hottest year in human history). I am working with the Monadnock Sustainability Hub to implement solutions to climate change!

We are at the start of NH Gives, a 24-hour fundraising event from Tues June 11 at 5 pm until Wed. June 7 at 5 pm. We will match all donations up to $5000 – so your donation will be doubled! We are trying to win a special prize for the most individual donations, so even if you aren’t in a position to give much, any amount will help.
Click on the link below to donate, and THANK YOU!!!

Remember, slashing greenhouse gas emissions anywhere helps ease climate change everywhere, so you don’t need to live in the Monadnock Region to feel the positive effects of our work.
