WHY MUSIC AT LA SIERRA UNIVERSITY
The Department of Music is committed to providing a challenging and rewarding environment for our students to grow and develop artistically, intellectually, and professionally. Our faculty and staff support and provide opportunities for students to reach their potential through experiences in the academic setting, preparing them for higher levels of education, pro

fessional opportunities, and service. The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, a Bachelor of Music degree with two areas of concentration, performance and music education, and a Bachelor of Science degree in music technology. The Bachelor of Arts degree is especially useful for students wanting to do a double major in a pre-professional course of study. For those who have completed their undergraduate studies and would like to continue intensive studies, the Department of Music offers a Performer's Certificate Program. The purpose of this program is to increase employment opportunities or proficiency in a concentration. Support the Department of Music and its students by giving a tax deductible donation. The La Sierra University Music Department is deeply saddened by the passing of alumna Yiming Cheng, a talented clarinetist who studied with Dr. William Wellwood beginning in 2014. Born in Tianjin, China, Yiming trained internationally and performed with distinction, including at the Mozart Festival in Germany and on tour with the Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra. We are grateful for the artistry and kindness she shared with our community. Our hearts are with her family and friends.
