We have a huge plastic pollution problem in our state. Nothing we use for a few minutes should harm our environment and public health for hundreds of years.

We need to take steps to move beyond plastic. This month, the state legislature is considering legislation that would reduce single-use plastic foodware, helping consumers figure out which single-use plastic products are actually recyclable and more.

Today was our big Virtual Climate Lobby Day! w 150+ University of California students! The UC Riverside team had 3 meetings today calling for ☀️100%☀️ clean electricity by 2030 !!

WE WON! UCI now joins 3 other UC campuses as a Bee Friendly Certified Campus! Bees pollinate everything from strawberries to coffee. But beekeepers report they're losing 40% of their bee colonies each year. No bees means no food. That's why CALPIRG Students worked to commit UCI to protecting our pollinators.

CALPIRG Students helped 10,000 students register to vote this year. And so far 500 volunteers educated more than 150,000 students about voting, made over 90,000 peer to peer Get Out the Vote contacts which includes conversations over the phone and text message and students texting their friends to ask them to pledge to vote. Today we're hosting a day long vote-a-thon with the CA Campus Vote Prohect to showcase the enthusiasm that young people have to turn out to the polls this year.
