✏️ Sketch to Structure — Wednesdays

This week’s feature highlights ShaRena Steeple and her project, Folium.

Folium is designed as a residential and culinary mixed-use building located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Taking inspiration from a dandelion, the design introduces soft, organic forms that contrast with the surrounding hard-edged urban fabric. Just as a dandelion can grow almost anywhere—even through concrete—the project reflects resilience and growth within the city.

Through thoughtful form and concept, ShaRena’s design explores how architecture can bring natural inspiration into the built environment.

💬 Architecture students—how do you like to translate natural forms into your building designs?

Our Architecture Career Fair on March 5 was a great success! 🏛️

We welcomed 15 firms and companies to campus to connect with our students—many even offering on-the-spot interviews. Students came prepared, looking sharp with resumes and portfolios in hand, ready to take the next step toward their careers.

We also loved seeing a few CBU Architecture alumni on the other side of the tables—proof of that amazing full-circle moment of graduates returning to hire the next generation.

A big thank you to Lisa Blair, Danijel Bilaver, and Vanessa Flores Rodriguez from the for organizing this fantastic event, and thank you to all of the employers who came out to invest in and connect with our students!

Exploring history where it lives. 🏛️✨

Dr. Papineau’s ARC500 B: Historic Preservation class spent a day in downtown Riverside, diving into the stories behind the buildings that shape our city.

Students had the opportunity to meet with City Preservationist Scott Watson and gain insight into Riverside’s historic districts, preservation efforts, and the importance of protecting architectural heritage for future generations.

There’s nothing like learning preservation by walking the very streets that hold the history. 👣📚
