Gerald E. Daniels Jr., our 2026 Outstanding Young Alumni Award honoree, is a proud three-time UCR alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and master’s and doctoral degrees in Economics. He is an Associate Professor of Economics at Howard University whose research and service advance economic opportunity through scholarship, mentorship, and community engagement. Gerald credits his UCR experience with inspiring his lifelong commitment to addressing economic inequality and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities.

Daniels and fellow 2026 honorees were celebrated at the 38th Annual Alumni Awards Dinner on April 11.

This webinar will focus on two ongoing clinical and service activities that address:

▫️UCR innovations in screening and early diagnosis for autism.
▫️Autism in young adults, including presentation and diagnosis in college, inspired by the film, Autism Goes to College.

In addition to Drs. Blacher and Meltzoff, the presentation will include a dialogue with filmmaker and UCR alum, Erik Linthorst.

Angel Rodriguez ’08, M.Ed. ’21, our 2026 Alumni Service Award honoree, serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Government Relations, Strategic Communications & Grants at the San Bernardino Community College District where he has helped secure more than $470 million to expand educational access and workforce opportunities for over 30,000 students at Crafton Hills College and San Bernardino Valley College.

His service to his community and beyond exemplifies why he is so deserving of this honor.
