Sophia Vecchi enrolled at Oakland University to study psychology because she is passionate about helping people with Alzheimer’s disease. Her grandfather was diagnosed shortly after she was born and passed away when she was 11, so the cause is very personal for her. ✨

Having three majors might overwhelm some college students, but for Mallory Waligora it means triple the opportunities and accomplishments.

Waligora earned her bachelor’s degree with three majors: International Relations, Public Relations, and French Language and Literature. She was recently awarded the Meritorious Achievement Award, the highest honor for a student in the Oakland University College of Arts and Sciences. https://bit.ly/4xh2QV0

Can Oakland University students design and race a fully electric kart that holds its own on one of the biggest collegiate stages in North America? This question was answered on April 18, 2026, when OU’s Electric Racing Association (ERA) rookie kart outperformed its more seasoned counterparts, finishing second overall in a 50-lap endurance race often called “The Greatest Spectacle in College Racing.” Behind that finish is a story of innovative thinking, perseverance, and competition-fueled learning.
