The Department of Computer Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology offers Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees as well as the dual BS/MS degree in Computer Engineering. The BS degree program was instituted in 1975 as a joint program between Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Technology at RIT. In 1980, the Department of Computer Engineering was formally
established within the College of Engineering. As enrollment began to climb significantly in 1990s, the MS in computer engineering was established. With the continuous effort in improving its curriculum, the department had established a reputation for offering quality, career-oriented undergraduate education by the turn of millennium. Our students study in-depth software and hardware design, as well as computer systems integration and applications. Since early 2000s, the department has continued to advance its curriculum as well as research activities in several focus areas. Currently, the Department of Computer Engineering has 12 faculty and 5 staff members . Our faculty are actively engaging in state-of-the-art curriculum development and research activities. In terms of research activity, our faculty are working with our BS, BSMS, MS students as well as the Ph.D. students in the Computing and Information Sciences Program, the Microsystems Engineering Program, and the Imagine Science Program. The Computer Engineering programs focus on educating our students software, hardware and integration of systems. Areas of Focus
