SPOTLIGHT: Arina Rodionova
Arina is a OU's undergraduate student in bioengineering. For nearly 3 years, she has been working with Dr. Randal Westrick, on identifying a genetic mutation that impacts clotting factors within mice. She recently presented her research, titled "Identification of a Noncoding Genetic Variant in the Tissue Factor Locus that Reverses Lethal Thrombosis in Mice," at the American Heart Association Vascular Discovery 2024 and "Characterizing Dominant Noncoding Suppressor Variants of Lethal Thrombosis in the Mouse" at the Allied Genetics Conference 2024. She was a winner of the student travel award and presented in the Trainee Symposium during the Allied Genetics Conference.

Congratulations to Dr. Gerard Madlambayan, associate professor of bioengineering and biological sciences, for receiveing a faculty recognition award for his exceptional service. Join us for the 2023 Sigma Xi Annual Lecture Event! "Lost then Found: Building a Foundation for Change" will be presented by SECS Advisory Board member, Alecia M. Gabriel, Ph.D.. Dr. Gabriel is also one of the founders of Motor City STEAM Foundation and The Lab Drawer®, a nonprofit program that helps underserved minority students to gain access to STEM education services and materials. This event is open to all Oakland University community members!
