The Student Government Association invites the MCC community to join us for the annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, providing an opportunity for our community to remember those who lost their lives, honor the courage of first responders, and reflect on the lasting impact of that day.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 8am at the Remembrance Monument outside Building 10. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Gym.

This year’s keynote speaker is Paul Dondorfer '98, a graduate of MCC's Fire Protection Technology program who has dedicated much of his life to serving the Monroe County community. After graduating from MCC, Dondorfer briefly left the area to pursue a career as a police officer with the New York City Police Department. He will share his experiences as a first responder during the events of September 11, 2001, and reflect on the lasting impact of that day.

As we mark 25 years, we invite students, faculty, staff, and members of the MCC community to join us in remembering, honoring, and reflecting together.

Gona Abdullah, President, Student Government Association.

Jodi Oriel, Student Life & Leadership Develop.

2023 MCC graduate Zazie Weldgen’s illustration was featured in the New York Times Print Edition on Sunday morning (featured in the New York Times Online Edition on Saturday). The New York Times commissioned her illustration in the sports section as part of a U.S. Open (tennis) preview. Read more on this in Veronica Chiesi Brown's article in the Daily Tribune. Access to the full NYT article is available for free to MCC students, faculty, and staff (look for the New York Times Digital Edition on the MCC Libraries Databases A-Z page for instructions).

Here is Zazie presenting her work as a student at the Celebration of Learning in the LeRoy V. Good Library on May 3, 2023. Congratulations to Zazie, we're proud of her continuing success!
