A new semester and plenty of opportunities to make an impact. Our Part-Time students recently came together for orientation, welcoming students from the Executive MBA, Professional MBA, MS in Medical Management, and Healthcare Certificate programs to the Simon community.

Students got to know their classmates, connect with current students and alumni, hear from faculty, explore Simon clubs and experiential learning opportunities, and meet with the Benet Career Management Center - Simon Business School, University of Rochester. They also received their semester teams and jumped right into team-building with a little help from LEGO bricks.

With a tour of Simon and plenty of time to connect, our newest students are officially ready to take on the semester together!

What better way to wrap up MS Orientation Week than with a night out at one of our favorite spots?

After a week of getting to know their programs, meeting classmates and settling into the Simon community, our MS students headed to The Playhouse // Swillburger for some good food, arcade games and plenty of time to hang out beyond the classroom.

Orientation may be wrapped up, but the connections made this week are just getting started. Here’s to a great year ahead for our newest MS students!

You don’t have to fit a certain personality type to succeed in business. Simon Business School alumna Terrikia Jackson (Benjamin) ’25S (MBA) learned that firsthand. Coming from a background in biochemistry and biotech, Terrikia was once told by a former colleague that she might be “too nice” for business.

Instead of letting that define her, she found her own path. At Simon, Terrikia built confidence, developed her business perspective, expanded her network, and gained hands-on experience through a corporate strategy internship with Bimbo Bakeries USA. Today, she’s preparing for her next chapter with investment management firm Capital Group in Los Angeles.

Her experience also reinforced something she now believes strongly: there isn’t one personality that belongs in business school—or one way to lead.

“I don’t think that there is a personality that you need to have in business school,” Terrikia says. “Everyone has the opportunity to be successful regardless of their personality.”

🎙️ Hear more about Terrikia’s journey from science to business, her Simon experience, and why being yourself can be a strength in business on Study International Extra Credit Podcast:

Terrikia Benjamin '25S (MBA) discusses changing careers, finding her place in business school, and the lessons she carried forward from her Simon MBA experience.

What happens when consumers say sustainability matters—but their purchasing decisions tell a different story?

Kristina Brecko, assistant professor at the University of Rochester, Simon Business School, is bringing research-backed insight to the conversation around sustainable brands and consumer behavior.

In a recent interview with TheStreet, Brecko discusses research examining what really influences consumers’ purchasing decisions—and why sustainability may not always be the deciding factor.

Consumers say they want one thing, but their actual purchases say something different.

AI is changing how we think about computing—and even how we measure it.

Simon Business School's William H. Meckling Associate Professor of Finance Yukun Liu recently spoke with NPR's Planet Money about why AI tokens could become the “kilowatt-hour of the AI age,” offering insight into the economics behind the rapidly evolving technology.

🎙️The segment aired on 136 NPR affiliates nationwide.

AI companies use tokens to track usage and bill customers. Now economists are using them to track the spread of AI through the economy.
