John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts college in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. Fisher offers nearly 40 undergraduate majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing. We also have a number of master’s and doctoral programs. For students who want to get involved outside of the classroom, Fisher offers 25 collegiate sports as well as over 70 student clubs and organizations.

For the tenth year in a row, St. John Fisher University has been recognized for its continuing commitment to engaged, hands-on education by Colleges of Distinction. Fisher was named to the 2026-2027 list, recognizing its delivery of a high-quality undergraduate education that focuses on personalized learning, strong student-faculty relationships, a vibrant campus life, and successful student outcomes.

For the third year in a row, St. John Fisher University was named the top winner in all three higher education categories in the Rochester Business Journal’s 2026 Reader Rankings. The University earned the top spot in the Best Undergraduate Programs, Best Graduate Programs, and Best MBA Program categories.

We're highlighting campus accoldates this week. St. John Fisher University is among the 149 best colleges in the Northeast according to The Princeton Review.

The University was listed in the Best in the Northeast section of the Review’s “2027 Best Regional Colleges” website, which features a total of 630 colleges across seven zones: Northeast, South, Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, West, and International. According to The Princeton Review, students describe the University as offering a “very welcoming and friendly” campus. One student was quoted as saying, “I always feel safe, accepted, and loved here at Fisher, where I can express my own opinions and get amazing feedback and help where needed.”

This week, we've been highlighting the accomplishments of some of our recent alumni. In that spirit, we're proud to look ahead to this coming year and the honors we'll be awarding to 25 of our alumni and friends this Alumni Weekend, during the annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Celebration and the Alumni Awards Brunch.

This year's inductees to the Fisher Athletic Hall of Fame were selected for achievements on the field and their impact on the Fisher Athletics program. They will be honored at the induction celebration on Friday, Sept. 18. Recipients of the Ten Under 10 Awards and the Dean’s Medals will be recognized at the Alumni Awards Brunch on Saturday, Sept. 19.
