PRIDE Month and Sustainability intersect in many ways. The LGBTQ+ community often faces higher exposure to environmental risks, faces discrimination that limits their access to healthcare and stable housing, faces barriers to accessing emergency shelters, and faces higher risks of displacement. While celebrating PRIDE Month, also consider how those celebrations intersect with not only social justice, but also environmental health, economic well-being, and cultural diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.

Berry bushes do better when the space around them is working too 🫐 A few companion planting ideas I’d try:
🐝 Borage and sweet alyssum can help bring more pollinators into the area.
🌿 Chives are easy to tuck around the edges and don’t take up much space.
🌼 Marigolds and nasturtiums add color while helping distract some pests.
🍓 Strawberries can work as a living ground cover if you keep them managed.
🌱 I’d still leave room around the berry bush base for airflow and harvesting.
My tip is to start with just a few companions instead of crowding the whole bed at once. Berry roots don’t love competition.
