John C. West Forum on Politics and Policy at Winthrop University

John C. West Forum on Politics and Policy at Winthrop University The West Forum is dedicated to promoting civic education and engagement in South Carolina. West and transfered to Winthrop University in 2008. Mr.

The West Forum began in 2002 at the University of South Carolina-Columbia by former Governor John C. The former governor, and then professor, understood the importance of civic education and citizen participation in South Carolina and around the world as well. West wanted a means for South Carolina students to be trained for the positions they will be filling in the future. In an ever changing glo

balized society it remains important as always for citizens to be active and aware of their political surroundings. Governor West recognized these important concepts and took the necessary measures to promote responsible political leadership. Winthrop's motto of Live, Learn, Lead fits well with Mr. West's initiative of preparing the next generation of citizens and leaders for upcoming challenges that the world will be asked to face. The West Forum seeks to do just these things: promote leadership and educate its citizens.
