For those looking for potential employment, a band position in Waubonsie:
Waubonsie Valley High School Band Director Position(s) - Anticipated Fall 2025
The Waubonsie Valley High School Music Department (Aurora, IL) is hiring one full time band director starting in August of 2025 due to a retirement. This is an amazing opportunity to join a team of three band directors in a music department with eight colleagues. It is also unique timing with a second band director retirement that will be filled for the 2026-27 school year. There will be wonderful stability and institutional knowledge with the remaining director with the opportunity for two new directors to shape the future in this historically strong band program in one of Illinois’ premiere school districts for support of the Fine Arts. Our goal with hiring in these next two years is to find one candidate who is experienced and passionate about marching band and another who is equally passionate about spearheading our jazz program.
This position will be teamed with another full time director and a split band band director (.4)/department chair (.6) to serve our band program that has approximately 210 students in four to five curricular bands plus co-curricular ensembles listed below. Qualified candidates should have the teaching experience and musical skill to lead all levels of classes. Our music department has eight highly collaborative staff members who work closely together to teach over 600 music students in a building of 2700 students.
Waubonsie Valley is an amazing place to teach. We welcome candidates who are positive people and excellent musicians, dedicated to finding joy in working hard alongside students, parents, and colleagues. The WVHS Music Department has been recognized as a GRAMMY Foundation finalist seven times. Indian Prairie School District has been named to the NAMM Best Communities In Music Education list annually since 2011. Our district and building have strong administrative and community support, with an active Band Booster Organization. We are also excited to embark on a $5 million renovation of our auditorium and music area in the spring of 2025.
