General information

"Once Lost but Now Found" At a young age my grandmother rescued me from starvation and neglect. My grandmother sacrificed much in the early years of my life to ensure I had food, clothes, and stressed the importance of education in my life. At the age of 12, my younger sister, who lived with my sick mother, was given the chance to go into the orphanage to escape conditions in which she was trying to survive. In order for my sister and 2 younger brothers to have a new life through adoption, my family told me I would have to accompany them in this journey. My grandmother released me to make sure my siblings would not forget our homeland and family. I went to honor my grandmother, not because I wanted a new life. Through the prayers of my grandmother, our three year stay at the orphanage resulted in a new life and family in America. I quickly transitioned into my new life as an American teenager; clothes, TV, music, movies, fashion all became an important part of my new life. However, the voice of my grandmother was always in the depth of my heart. As I pursued higher education in the field of beauty, the voice grew stronger and I became more unsettled about my future. God's calling was higher and stronger than my own desire. June 2015 my calling became very clear during my return trip to Ethiopia. I saw how God wants to use all the things of my past to carry out His plan for my future. I'm called to reach out to those who are lost in that society. The elderly have been forgotten by their families and community and left hurt and hungry. I believe that my call is to care for the elderly through a feeding program, that would also incorporate jobs to single moms and orphans. For me to fully carry out this call, I need to be trained and equipped. I believe the best place for me to begin this training is to attend the University of the Nations in Hawaii. Thus begins the next chapter of my life........
