Cold weather hits differently when you don’t have the essentials. As RVC launches our Winter Coat Drive from December 3 through January 13, we’re asking alumni to help us make sure no one is braving this cold without a coat.

If you have a new or gently used coat you’re ready to pass along, you can drop it off at the RVC Foundation office (6520 Spring Brook Rd) during the drive. All donated coats will be distributed at RVC's upcoming Bundle Up Bash on January 14—a special event featuring free coat pick-up for students along with fun activities to stay warm.

Holiday hours reminder: Campus will be closed December 24 through January 1, but will reopen for drop-offs on January 2.

Please direct questions to Rachel Vonderheide at (815) 921-4503 or [email protected]

On November 7, the RVC Foundation hosted one of our favorite gatherings of the year: the annual Scholarship Luncheon. The room was full of students who are working incredibly hard for their futures, and donors who want to walk alongside them. Every story was different, and there were several little moments that reminded us why scholarships matter in such a personal way.

To our donors and our scholars, thank you for making this such a special day. You’re the heart of what we do, and seeing you together sticks with us long after the luncheon ends.

Please join us in celebrating Brent Brodeski on being named a 2026 Chicago Titan 100 and Hall of Fame honoree!

This is Brent’s third year in a row earning a spot on the Chicago Titan 100 list, a recognition that celebrates top CEOs and executives from across the region. It’s an honor given to leaders who demonstrate strong business performance and the kind of leadership that influences their industries and communities in lasting ways. This year, Brent was also inducted into the Titan 100 Hall of Fame, a special distinction given to individuals who have consistently upheld those standards year after year.

Brent is the founder and CEO of Savant Wealth Management, a firm that now manages more than 37 billion dollars in assets and serves thousands of clients nationwide. What started as a local practice in Rockford has grown into a nationally recognized firm with nearly 200 employees and services that span financial planning, investment management, retirement plans, tax, consulting, and legal support.

Long before Savant became a national name, Brent was a student at Rock Valley College. As the oldest of six children in a single-income household, he was the first in his family to earn a college degree. Later, he earned a finance degree and an MBA at Northern Illinois University, and pursued multiple professional credentials. It also helped set a path that many of his siblings followed.

In a press statement, Brent noted that being named a Titan again reflects the strength of his team and their shared focus on creating long-term value for the people they serve. His goal, he says, is to help improve one million lives.

Please join us in celebrating Brent’s continued success and this well-earned recognition.

There is no better way to start the day than surrounded by our Golden Eagles family! We’re so proud of Bianca, Sabine, and Ryan for sharing what receiving an RVC Foundation scholarship has meant to them. Hearing from them brought to life the difference our donors make every single day.

It was also a special moment to welcome back Brianna Crosser, a 2020 RVC graduate who now works at Mercyhealth, who took the stage to share how her RVC experience helped shape her career and what RVC means to our community.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mercyhealth for making this incredible event possible.

We are proud to celebrate the continued accomplishments of RVC Distinguished Alumnus, Bing Liu! Bing is a 2008 graduate of RVC and was inducted as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2023.

Bing, who joined us last Tuesday as the keynote speaker for our Faculty & Staff Professional Development Day, has a true gift for storytelling. His latest film, Preparation for the Next Life, has just been released, adding to a body of work that challenges perspectives and brings untold stories to light.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to check out his work, including the Oscar-nominated Minding the Gap, All These Sons, and now Preparation for the Next Life.

We are continually of Bing for using film to amplify voices, spark empathy, and invite us all to see the world through a wider lens.

"There is something special automatically that aspiring filmmakers in Rockford have access to, and it’s just stories that are unheard.”
