Potomac Valley Brick was proud to be honored at the recent Brick Excellence Gala, part of the Brick Industry Association’s 2026 National Clay Brick Expo!

Our own Chris Mayer accepted the award on behalf of the team for our work on the Bridge District project along the Anacostia River, which was recognized as a Best in Class winner in the Paving & Landscaping category for the 2025 Brick in Architecture Awards. 🏆

Potomac Valley Brick was proud to support the SkillsUSA Maryland State Championship held last Saturday in Westminster!

This event highlights the incredible talent of high school students across Maryland enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, competing in a wide range of skilled trades and disciplines. Alongside the Mid-Atlantic Masonry Association (MAMA), Potomac Valley Brick was honored to support the masonry competition. A special thank you to Kirk Taylor for his organization and leadership as Chair of the masonry program!

Future architects and engineers got a hands-on look at masonry in action! 🔨

Potomac Valley Brick recently participated in a Masonry Day with students from Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture. Skilled masons from our PVB Masonry Services team worked side-by-side with students, giving them the opportunity to get hands-on experience and explore the masonry materials they’ll soon be designing with.

We always love supporting the next generation of architects and engineers—and helping to bring classroom concepts to life in a real-world setting.

Great turnout for our Demo Days with MAPEI USA in Newington, Frederick, and Easton!

Architects, builders, and installers joined us for hands-on demonstrations of polymer-modified mortar products and a discussion on upcoming building code changes that will expand the use of these mortars on cement and concrete board applications.

A big thank you to the MAPEI team and everyone who attended. We appreciate the opportunity to bring our industry together to learn, connect, and stay ahead of evolving standards.

Project Spotlight: The new Barry P. Gossett Basketball Performance Center at the University of Maryland adds 43,000 sq. ft. of new space to support the men's and women's teams—including a practice court, strength and conditioning center, team offices, and an underground connector to the Xfinity Center. Potomac Valley Brick supplied a Carbon Black Smooth brick from The Belden Brick Company for the stunning exterior, which features a Maryland flag–inspired Calvert checker pattern. Beautiful masonry work by KaRon Masonry!

Potomac Valley Brick had an opportunity to get hands-on with students at The Catholic University of America's School of Architecture and Allied Arts during this year’s Masonry Day!

A huge thank you to Kirk Taylor for organizing another great event and to our outstanding masonry crew for showing students how to lay brick/block and build demo walls. Team members Darren Murray, Craig Linehan, Dustin Lovely, Ryan Clifford, and Fabiola Mayer were also on-site to assist and speak with students about the craft.
